Tonight I made a card for a challenge blog that is new to me, Kelly’s Stamp Pad, where every Monday she has the Color Chef Challenge. The colors for this week were Black, Cream and Green. Here is my card that I made and will give to my hubbs for our 27th wedding anniversary later this week!
The papers and stamps are all by CTMH. I’ve embellished with some black gems from the dollar bin at Archiver’s, and ribbon, buttons and black hemp from my stash. I sanded my black cardstock, and inked around the edges of the cream cardstock and the green patterned paper in cocoa ink.
Thanks for looking!
My mom was 18, my dad was 20 — and they snuck out of L.A. with two friends, to elope in Tijuana, Mexico because Dad was too young to get married without permission from my grandparents! Fast forward 50 years, 4 kids, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild later, through life’s ups and downs, they are still together… I wish we could be together on their day to celebrate, but we’ll have to postpone that until Christmastime when we all go to Arizona from Minnesota, Idaho and Utah to celebrate as a family.
I woke up way too early this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep — I think I was dreaming about this card. This is my first CPS sketch and it was fun! My papers are Coredinations and miscellaneous papers from JoAnn Crafts; stamps are CTMH, punches are SU! and CM, and miscellaneous embellies from my stash.
Off to get this card in the mail — thanks for looking!
I don’t like giving my DH really mushy cards, it’s just not me, although he can give me a really romantic card and it will make me feel kind of sw00ny… anyway, it’s hard to come up with something handmade and heartfelt, but without lots of frou-frou because… well, he’s a guy and frankly the frou-frou doesn’t do for him what it might do for a papercrafting-appreciative girlfriend if you get my drift.
So in my quest to stumble onto something handmade and heartfelt 🙂 I came upon a 70’s retro website… INSPIRATION! DH and I are Tweeners – in between Boomers and X’ers… I found a photo of some Funny Face Drink Mix from the early 70’s and the card in my head came to life! I think he will appreciate this, because what kid from the 70’s didn’t love Jolly Ollie Orange?
On the inside of the card I used some Classroom Alpha stamps from CTMH (still trying to keep some of that grade school feel to my declaration of love!).
No, it’s not the most romantic card on earth, but after 26 years of marriage, DH knows I’m not a mushy girl… but I think this little card will still surprise him and make him smile.
