Had fun at my semi-annual scrapbooking retreat this past weekend… Here are a couple of my creations. I made some Thanksgiving cards with leftover Target Dollar Spot paper, vintage images from Crafty Secrets, cute mini-folders from Rusty Pickle and Stamps and Cardstock from Close To My Heart. I also pulled a vintage button and ribbons from my stash.
I scanned these and the buttons popped the cards up enough from the scanner to make them a little blurry but the images are crisper IRL! Thanks for looking 🙂
I recently gave away my first born child for a couple of Magnolia stamps from overseas (kidding) and used one for the first time. My inspiration came from this blog, http://tessa78.blogspot.com/2008/10/card-challenge-27.html, which I believe is mostly written in Finnish, but it was Kismet that I even found it! I was just clicking “Next blog” on Blogspot, which can bring up all sorts of interesting but non-papercrafting blogs, and there this one was. She has cute Magnolia cards and when I saw the challenge I had to jump on it.
I’ve stamped the angel in brown Stazon, and then colored her in with watercolor pencils and a waterpen. Then I’ve stippled and distressed in Desert Sand and Chocolate ink from CTMH. The file tag punch is from McGill and the corner punch is from SU. Ribbons are from my stash, and then the “I miss you” stamp, Sasparilla papers, Bitty Brads and Edge Anchors are all from CTMH. I’ve also added some Prisma Glitter to the wings, and Sparkles to a few snowflakes – also from CTMH. This was a fun card to make! Thanks to Tessa78 and her fun blog — I hope you will visit it!
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, it is a pretty big deal when you get to travel from Minnesota to Salt Lake City to attend General Conference. It’s not something most folks get to do very often, and it was the first time for me. Kind of comparable to going to Rome or Mecca! What made it especially nice aside from the spiritual feast, is that I got to attend with my husband Peter, my daughter Shannon and son-in-law Daren, and my eldest son Josh. Shannon and Daren live about 4 hours away from Salt Lake, outside of Idaho Falls. Josh attends university at BYU.

When I made this layout I did something I never do — I bought paper and chipboard embellishments at the Dollar Spot at Target! I really liked the Leaf paper so I thought I’d give it a try — I don’t know why I waited so long to take advantage of a bargain! Everything is Target, with the exception of Tulip CS from Close To My Heart, and the titling is stamped with Charm Lowercase Alphabet and Delightful Alphabet, also from Close To My Heart, in Chocolate, Tulip and Juniper. I also used some ribbon from my stash.
Don’t be like me and turn your nose up at the Target Dollar Spot — big mistake!
