Haven’t made cards in awhile, so tonight I’m making some 5×5 cards. I’m drawn to these purpley-blues, I don’t know why! I went with a vintage/shabby look on this one. I’m trying really hard not to buy a lot of stuff since I’m loaded to the gills with stuff in my craft room, it’s hard not to buy all the latest… but years of buying all the latest has left me with more product than I can hope to use, so I’m on a self-emposed shopping strike. Here’s my card and the ingredients are below:
DCWV Glitter papers, Jenni Bowlin label, Apron Lace border punch from Fiskars, a digital image that I created, a photocopied page from a book and ribbon, a flower, a vintage button and gems from my stash. I inked my edges in CTMH chocolate ink. This card is available for purchase on Etsy. Thanks so much for looking!
Here is this week’s sketch from 2S4U…
I have these papers from CTMH that I love… they’re called Notebook. I am always, always drawn to vintage, tattered and antique stuff. These are what I used to make this card. I’ve pulled from my ribbon stash and the button is from a pack of Jenni Bowlin buttons that I cracked open this morning. Stamps are also CTMH.
It’s turning out to be a beautiful day… I was up early, put Keith Urban on my faux-pod and crafted. Now I need to put on my jeans and go pull weeds. Thanks for looking at my card!
I don’t like giving my DH really mushy cards, it’s just not me, although he can give me a really romantic card and it will make me feel kind of sw00ny… anyway, it’s hard to come up with something handmade and heartfelt, but without lots of frou-frou because… well, he’s a guy and frankly the frou-frou doesn’t do for him what it might do for a papercrafting-appreciative girlfriend if you get my drift.
So in my quest to stumble onto something handmade and heartfelt 🙂 I came upon a 70’s retro website… INSPIRATION! DH and I are Tweeners – in between Boomers and X’ers… I found a photo of some Funny Face Drink Mix from the early 70’s and the card in my head came to life! I think he will appreciate this, because what kid from the 70’s didn’t love Jolly Ollie Orange?
On the inside of the card I used some Classroom Alpha stamps from CTMH (still trying to keep some of that grade school feel to my declaration of love!).
No, it’s not the most romantic card on earth, but after 26 years of marriage, DH knows I’m not a mushy girl… but I think this little card will still surprise him and make him smile.
The kids are out, hubby is sick, so I’m having a quiet night paper crafting and watching “Notting Hill”… my favorite lines from this movie are…
“I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.”
“Happiness isn’t happiness without a violin-playing goat.”
I just love that movie.
I played with some new-ish CTMH paper, called Notebook that I’ve wanted to get my hands into… I just love all the vintage stuff right now. The image of the angel girls is from this site, and the sentiment stamps are from CTMH. The chipboard is Memory Makers (on clearance at Target). I used some colored pencils to color the girls a bit. This card makes me happy 🙂
Had fun at my semi-annual scrapbooking retreat this past weekend… Here are a couple of my creations. I made some Thanksgiving cards with leftover Target Dollar Spot paper, vintage images from Crafty Secrets, cute mini-folders from Rusty Pickle and Stamps and Cardstock from Close To My Heart. I also pulled a vintage button and ribbons from my stash.
I scanned these and the buttons popped the cards up enough from the scanner to make them a little blurry but the images are crisper IRL! Thanks for looking 🙂
